10 kilometers north of Chiklayo is the ancient town of Lambayek, in which the houses of colonial times with carved wooden balconies are well preserved well. A Sichura desert is located next to Chiklavyo. It occupies a coastal strip between the ocean and the Andes, stretching deeper into the mainland for several tens of kilometers.
