The international community as a whole, and regional associations of countries, care about the predictable and consistent policies of each member. Its implementation depends on the top officials of the state.
A good example in this area is Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Features of domestic and foreign policy
It is the leader of the country who sets the tone for various reforms and represents his country in the international arena. These processes are interconnected, because the economic development of Uzbekistan is impossible without establishing good neighborly relations and attracting private and public investment to the country.
In this matter, the Uzbek President adheres to a policy of openness and mutual respect for interests. This was reflected in visits to neighboring countries and the signing of a number of important agreements. A particularly significant success was the resolution of border disputes, which improved the position of Uzbekistan and allowed it to focus on the implementation of large international infrastructure projects. The most important of them is the railway from China, through Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan. Chinese partners are very much interested in this, forming a land transport corridor from Asia to Europe.
Control over water resources, their optimal use, and solutions to environmental problems affect all countries in the region. These tasks can only be solved through joint efforts, which President Mirziyoyev has no doubt about and is guided by in his policy.
Performance evaluation
International organizations, in whose activities Uzbekistan takes an active part, recognize the importance of the president’s personality and evaluate his efforts in this area. The Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his victory in the early presidential elections.
Mr. Khusrav Noziri highly appreciated the actions of the head of state in the field of integration of the country and the interaction of all government institutions within the framework of international associations. It is Mirziyoyev’s efforts that will speed up many interaction processes and strengthen the status of the ECO among its members.
The opportunity to serve in his post as president for another term, according to the Secretary General, will give impetus to the development of integration, improve the position of Uzbekistan itself and increase the authority of the Economic Cooperation Organization in the region, and in general in the international arena.
